CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Corpus Christi Police say two homeless people attempting to manufacture drugs ended up hurting themselves pretty bad around noon Friday.
There was a small, but forceful explosion on the sidewalk near the Mother Theresa Shelter at Josephine and Mestina, where police believe a homeless man and woman were attempting to cook a small batch of methamphetamines in a bottle, when it blew up.
"They were victimized by their own stupidity," Police Captain David Cook, "but now we are looking at them as suspects."
The man and woman were rushed to the hospital for their injuries, but once there they refused treatment. They then walked out of the hospital and have not been seen since.
Police hope to find them, and once they do they plan to charge them with the crime. A quick field check of the drugs turned up positive for ingredients used to make meth.
