12News HD has confirmed that United Airlines is discontinuing the only commercial flights available from the Jack Brooks Regional Airport on July 1.
Airport Director Jennifer Hogancamp confirms that buses will take passengers from Beaumont to Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport after July 1 for those who have already bought tickets for flights.
The bus service will operate 3 round trips Monday through Saturday and two round trips on Sundays.
Outbound bus trips will run from the Regional airport on Monday through Saturday 5:45 a.m., 10:40 a.m. and 3:35 p.m. Sunday outbound trips will leave at 10:40 a.m. and 3:35 p.m..
Round trip from Houston to Beaumont will run Monday through Saturday at 8:15 a.m., 1:10 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the trips will be 1:10 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday's news comes after Colgan Air and Pinnacle airlines filed for bankruptcy in April. Those airlines contracted with United, but their Saab fleet was grounded after the reorganization.
United Airlines was unable to find a regional air carrier for replacement, but say they plan on continuing to look for one.
