Violence Breaks Out After Birthday Celebration

Posted: Updated:
FROM THE CORPUS CHRISTI POLICE DEPARTMENT -

Officers were dispatched to a fight in the parking lot of Macaw's just after 2 a.m. Wednesday.  Upon their arrival, they found blood just outside the front door which was locked.  MaCaw's bar staff was slow to open the door, but did so after several persistent raps on the door.   Further investigation revealed the fight occurred inside the bar where Officers found more blood by the bar, dance floor, and men's bathroom.  The bartender told police two regular customers were involved in a fight which continued outside.  The bartender did tell Officers someone was hit with a bar stool during the clash.  Officers were unable to contact suspects or victims at the bar, but later that morning, a victim did show up at Spohn South.

This victim told police he was celebrating the witness' birthday when two women began arguing about a taser which was being shown to other patrons.  A man in the bar believed they were using their camera phone to record the incident and assaulted the victim.  The victim tried to defend himself, but the man began hitting him with a bar stool gashing his forehead.   The victim's injuries were non-life threatening.

The suspect fled in a newer white Explorer or Tahoe.  He is described as a bald Hispanic male, 30 years of age, 5'8" feet tall, and weighing 200 lbs.  Anyone with any information on this crime is encouraged to call 888-TIPS or log on to www.888TIPS.com and submit a tip.  Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
