Local Women Competing in HEB's Slim Down Showdown

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

HEB is helping five area women slim down and hopefully change their lifestyle.

It's all part of the store's Slim Down Showdown, a 16-week weight loss competition in which 25 contestants from around the state are participating.

Our five local contestants were taken on a shopping tour of the HEB on Saratoga on Wednesday, where they were paired with a dietitian to help them read labels and make healthier choices, all aiming to help the contestants maintain a successful, healthier lifestyle.

"To make this successful, it has to include the family a lot," said Suzanne Parker, wellness coach for HEB. "These moms and their kids are learning healthy habits at the same time that way they can be successful, and their family is learning a whole new process."

Each contestant received $200 to help fill their carts and makeover their home pantries.
