
Officers pulled over a green Dodge Ram pick-up truck for a couple of traffic violations. The driver could be seen attempting to hide something in the rear cab of the truck. Christopher A. Garcia, 26, was visibly shaking when Officers contacted him. Garcia had two young passengers sitting in the cab area of the truck, a nine-year-old boy and a 3-year-old little girl. In the rear floorboard, Officers could see a Marijuana cigarette.
Garcia was arrested and during the impound inventory, a box containing several more Marijuana cigarettes and Crack Cocaine was found. Garcia was booked at the City Detention Center and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana. The Possession of Controlled Substance is a 3rd Degree Felony and punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. The Marijuana Possession is a Class "B" Misdemeanor and is punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine or both.
The two children were released to a family member. A copy of the report will be forwarded to Child Protective Services.
