CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A peculiar theft occurred early Thursday morning on the 7200 block of Sparkle Sea Drive near Rodd Field Road, when crooks took off with two doors of a pickup truck.

Whoever committed the crime pried open the hood and cut the battery cables before extracting the two driver's side doors of the 2008 black Ford F-150 truck. The family can't believe the odd nature of the theft, or the randomness of it.

"He was just in awe," said Jenna Davis, whose husband is the owner of the truck. "He's still in awe. He still can't believe that these people came and took doors. His iPod, his base ID, everything was still in the truck. They didn't take anything else but the doors."

The body shop where the truck is being worked on said it may cost as much as $3,700 to replace the doors.
