CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Over the years, South Padre Island has put up billboards near Corpus Christi touting the benefits of choosing that vacation destination over North Padre Island. Folks at the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitor's Bureau said they are amused but not surprised.
"It's obviously just a case of beach envy, that's all," said Keith Arnold, with the Convention and Visitor's Bureau. "The people in South Padre, the leadership there, has been very clear about being somewhat jealous of all the beaches and the different attractions we have versus their nice stretch of beach and condos. So their idea is to put something at our intersection to try and intercept people I guess off of 37 and 77."
Arnold said our CVB has chosen not to respond with similar attack ads. Instead, they said they are waging an aggressive ad campaign in Houston, Austin and San Antonio.
