Police responded to a bomb threat Monday night on the 3000 block of Rodd Field.
According to police, a woman flagged down officers and told them that her husband had made a bomb and was threatening to kill her and their children.
Her husband, 40-year old Mason Dickinson, is now behind bars.
That's when police say the wife managed to take the device out of her husbands hands. She, along with their three kids, jumped into a car and drove to the 3000 block of Rodd Field. She spotted a couple of officers sitting in a church parking lot and told them what happened.
Officers took the bomb out of the car and placed it in an open field nearby, where they waited for the bomb squad to arrive. After securing the device, they loaded it up and took it back to the station.
In the meantime, Dickinson jumped in his car and took off. Police tracked him down a short time later, and after a brief chase, he was handcuffed and hauled off to jail; but the investigation is far from over.
Police described the device as a Molotov cocktail, which is basically a homemade bomb. Dickinson now faces charges for aggravated assault, and evading arrest. Federal charges may also be filed.
