CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
The Fourth of July Big Bang Celebration is a Corpus Christi tradition dating back to 1977, and the City is hoping even more folks will join the festivities this year.
The mayor proclaimed July 4 as Big Bang Celebration 2012, recognizing Kiii-TV Channel 3 for helping make the event a success.
The Big Bang Celebration kicks off at 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, with a four-mile Fun Run. Events continue throughout the day, ending with the HEB Independence Day Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. The fireworks will be fired off from the USS Lexington.
