Another day of record breaking heat for the Coastal Bend; heat that can be deadly. In fact, doctors recommend that if symptoms of being overcome by the sweltering temperatures persist, get to the hospital immediately.
"Yeah, there's actually a heat exhaustion patient that's here today," said Dr. Russell Hill of Spohn Memorial Hospital.
Hill said staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water is just one way of avoiding heat stroke. Work crews spending any time outdoors are especially vulnerable.
One person who has lived in the Coastal Bend said she cannot remember it ever getting this hot.
"Usually there was a little breeze when it was hot like this, but not anymore," resident Ann Goodlett said. "I mean yesterday and today, it's been unreal. I don't know what we're going to do."
One thing we must remember to do is drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks and if you begin to feel like the heat is getting to you, get into a cool place and cool off.
