CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Improvements to the Hillcrest neighborhood will continue with the demolition of an old and dilapidated school.
The Old Washington School portable building on Sam Rankin will soon be no more. A $22,000 demolition project will begin in about two weeks, on Thursday, July 12.
The deteriorating building was brought to the attention of city officials by the Operation Proud Partnership program, which is made up of representatives from many city departments, including the police and fire department.
In the past few months, Operation Proud Partnership has been able to spruce up the Hillcrest area by removing illegally dumped debris, picking up loose animals and a park cleanup.
