Alzheimer's is one of the most debilitating diseases out there, and on Friday, at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi, a special summit was held to analyze the problem.
Everything from research to treatment options and resources were discussed at the summit, put on by the Alzheimer's Association. Experts, students in the College of Nursing at Del Mar College, and family members who are dealing with a loved one with the disease all attended.
Communication was among the most important things discussed.
"One of our messages to families is that we want them to share," said Ginny Funk of the Alzheimer's Association. "Extra help is eventually always needed."
If you want to learn more about the disease, and how you can cope with a loved one that has it, logon to the Alzheimer's Association Web site.
