Convenience Store Thieves Wind Up in Ditch

Occurred on 6/30/12, 1:50 a.m. Aggravated Robbery 5202 IH 37

Officers responded to the Valero Convenience Store for a robbery in progress. The store clerk and witnesses were able to provide descriptions of the suspects along with their vehicle description. The clerk told Officers the two men walked into the store together. One of the men had his hand underneath his shirt giving the impression he was armed with a weapon. The man demanded the money from the register and the clerk complied. Both suspects fled the store in a blue vehicle.

While en route, Officers observed the suspects walking away from the wrecked vehicle on Up River Road near Navigation Boulevard. The getaway driver had lost control of the car and it landed in a ditch. As Officers detained them, they found several baggies of Marijuana on the ground. Also found near the Marijuana was the money taken in the robbery.

Both men were positively identified and arrested. Mario Perez, 21, and Edwardo Trejo, 19, were booked at the City Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Robbery and Possession of Marijuana.
