AREA 3 (Kiii News) - The family of 16-year old Jenna Hernandez, whose body was found last week, are preparing for a rosary Monday night in Aransas Pass, dropping off pictures of the girl at the funeral home.
They said that a generous $3,000 donation from a person wishing to remain anonymous will help pay for funeral expenses.
Aransas Pass Police Chief Eric Blanchard said that, while the girl's former boyfriend, 18-year old Lawrence Mireles has been arrested, other arrests could follow.
"With the information and evidence that we have at this time, there's a lot of work that needs to be done on this case," Blanchard said.
Mireles' attorney has said that his client was wrongly accused, since he was at a party the night she went missing.
A rosary for Jenna Hernandez will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass.
Meanwhile, police in Portland continue to search for the person who targeted two girls in a Portland park last weekend.
It was Saturday before last when 18-year old Mary Chapa and her girlfriend, 19-year old Mollie Olgin, were shot in the head. Olgin died, and Chapa remains in the hospital where she continues to recover.
The small overlook at the park has been transformed into a makeshift memorial for the two girls. The community is still in shock over the shooting.
