ARANSAS PASS (Kiii News) -

Aransas Pass officials have released the arrest affidavit for Lawrence Mireles, suspect in the shooting murder of 16-year old Jenna Hernandez.

According to the affidavit, police believe Mireles shot and killed Hernandez while under the influence of drugs, days before her body was found on Stedman Island.

The affidavit states that the mother of Hernandez, Jennifer Lanier, reported her daughter missing on Wednesday, June 27. According to her mother, Hernandez had been sharing text messages with Mireles in the early-morning hours of June 26, and told her sister she would be back before leaving the residence at around 1 a.m.

When police went to question Mireles about the missing 16-year old, he took off running through the back door, evading the officers.

It was Thursday, June 28, when the teenage girl's body was discovered. She had been shot one time.

Upon questioning, Mireles stated that he did share text messages with Hernandez, but did not meet with her because he stayed in Rockport all night. However, the affidavit states that a witness said Mireles had confessed to him on June 27, saying that he was drunk and under the influence of Xanax when he allegedly shot Hernandez.
