CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The Corpus Christi Police Department arrested nine drivers on the Fourth of July on suspicion of DWI. One of those arrests started with a crash and ended with one woman in the hospital, and one individual in jail.

Just after the fireworks were ending Wednesday night, Corpus Christi police arrested 28-year old Lacey Bauer.

They said she was behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang when she jumped a curb and struck a 29-year old woman waiting to cross the street, at the intersection of Water Street and Twigg. That victim suffered broken bones in her foot, ankle and knee, and was rushed to the hospital.

Bauer, on the other hand, was charged with intoxication assault, and if convicted could spend up to ten years in jail. She was also charged with possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, after police said a mixed drink was found in the center console of her sports car.

About an hour later, police arrested 33-year old Mayme Fivecoat. They said she refused to pull over for officers who were attempting to direct holiday traffic near the USS Lexington.

Police said instead of stopping, Fivecoat actually sped up in an officer's direction, almost pinning that officer between vehicles. The officer was forced to draw his weapon, and Fivecoat finally pulled over.

Police said Fivecoat was drunk, and she was charged with DWI. She was additionally charged for having a six-year old child in the vehicle with her, and for driving with a suspended license.

The child was released to a family member.
