After a big summer holiday, there is always a cleanup effort at the beach.
"Yeah, it's pretty trashy," local resident Tori Dixon said. "I've already picked up six cans and I was already thinking about going out and picking up more. I surf here, so it's kind of disappointing to see how people trash it up."
Dixon is just one beachgoer who wasn't happy about the condition of the beach Thursday morning. There were beer bottles and plastic bags littering the sand, but city crews were out cleaning it up.
"I think it's looking alright. I've seen some people cleaning up," Rockport resident Eric Pulieo said. "The dozer's out their pushing sand around and everything. It's not too bad. Could have been worse."
"Yeah, it's pretty clean," said Kristi Irvin, a visitor from Houston. "Looks good. Good day."
City officials remind you, if you do head out to the beach during this long holiday weekend, please, clean up after yourself.
