Beaumont police Tuesday evening served a search warrant and collected what they called trace evidence at a home in the 5200 block of Wilshire in connection with a July 3, 2012 murder.
A regional forensic team searched for evidence such as hair, fingerprints, footprints, and DNA.
Sgt.. Rob Flores with Beaumont PD says the regional forensic team is able to search for evidence closer than the average team. Sgt.. Flores says they will release more information Wednesday morning if detectives decide it won't jeopardize their investigation.
Police say on July 3, 2012 two men dropped off 20-year-old Aaron Leffage at the Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth E.R. Leffage had serious injuries as the result of blunt force trauma. E.R. staff treated Laffage and transferred him to the intensive care unit. Because of his injures, Aaron died on July 5th.
Detectives have been working hard to determine the circumstances surrounding Leffage's death.
Officers say they have been able to identify the two males who dropped off Aaron and determined that the murder may have taken place at a home on Wilshire Drive in Beaumont's north end.
Detectives also took several statements from people who were at the house when our Crime Scene Unit processed the scene.
