A juvenile arrested last year in connection with the death of Orangefield Junior High School teacher Staci Lisenby has pleaded "true" to charges against him and was sentenced to 20 years confinement.

The name of the juvenile has not been released.

Lisenby was shot at her home in the 2400 block of Oilla Road in Orangefieldand and died later at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.

According to 12News HD file stories, Lisenby's 14-year old son was home at the time of the shooting and called 9-11.  When deputies arrived at the home they said they did not find the shooter.

A statement issued by the Orange County Sheriff's Office shortly after the shooting says Lisenby's son told them an intruder shot his mother.  Investigators said key evidence found on the property led them to believe the crime was not committed by a stranger.  They said the suspect in the case was a juvenile, and they did not identify him.

In March 2011, Lisenby's son was taken into custody.  According to 12News HD file stories, Lisenby's son told one of his friends he was "tired of how strict his parents were and that he intended on killing them both and then running away."

Lisenby was a sixth grade math teacher who had been employed with Orangefield ISD for five years.

The Orange County District Attorney Wednesday issued the following statement:

A juvenile offender admitted his guilt this morning pleading "true" to the allegations that he intentionally and knowingly murdered Staci Lisenby at her home in Orangefield on February 20, 2011.  Ms. Lisenby was at her home when she was shot in the head and died a short time later.

The juvenile was sentenced to twenty (20) years confinement pursuant to the "determinate sentencing" provisions of the Texas Family Code.  Under a determinate sentence, the juvenile will begin his sentence in a juvenile facility and remain in a juvenile facility until he reaches adulthood.  At that time, he will be transferred to the adult prison system in order to finish his sentence.
