Longtime Corpus Christi resident and insurance executive Leo Barrera has been chosen by Mission of Mercy to serve as executive director of the Texas Mobile Medical Program. It's a job he eagerly accepted.
"Our goal and my purpose is to continue to expand the program so that we can serve more patients and reduce the overall health cost in our community," Barrera said.
The mobile medical clinic is essentially a hospital on wheels. It goes all around the Coastal Bend, serving the uninsured with free primary healthcare, prescriptions and preventative testing.
