With almost a foot of rain pouring down on Southeast Texas Friday morning some areas were hit worse than others.
"Every time we get a good heavy rain it gets like this," said Randy Adams talking about the yard in front of his home.
For four years when strong storms roll through Lumberton Randy says his front yard becomes a lake, which leaves lasting effects on his property.
"It will stay soaking wet for probably three of four days," he said. "We can't even walk on it without sinking."
As Southeast Texas saw 100 percent coverage of rain Friday, Hardin County was hit with about four inches that piled up in some areas more than others.
With the heavy ran fall some flooded front yards become a danger zone. As the water raises so do things like ant piles and other creatures.
And for that reason Katie Adams keeps an even closer eye on her small children.
"Our front porch will get covered in ants because they're trying to get out of the rain," said Katie. "A few times we've had snakes that have come up."
On top of dangerous critters Randy keeps his kids inside during the wet weather for fear of the people driving in the rain.
"They fly down the road, a majority of the time, if they do that when it's raining they could hydroplane and hit one of my kids," he said.
Katie tries to avoid leaving her house at all costs coming up with inside activities to keep the kids dry.
"We just watch movies and play inside and pray the electricity doesn't go out," she said.
Even though we had a drought last year Mr. and Mrs. Adams feel the same about the rain.
"We needed a little bit of rain but this is above and beyond," said Katie.
"It's bad to say I'm fed up with it but we only need so much rain," said Randy.
