Rains affect family and business

Posted: Updated:

As a Southeast Texas native Joshua R. Roy has seen a lot of rain in his lifetime. He's just grateful it stopped for a bit Saturday afternoon.

"Nothing short of a miracle. We were expecting it to rain so we planned indoor activities but came out today and it was bright and shiny," said Roy.

A quick sunny break comes after the last 10 days of rainfall and Roy can tell you exactly what he and his kids do when it's not sunny.

"Whole lotta Dora, Sponge Bob, kids play on the xbox," said Roy.

Colorado Canyon in Beaumont is mostly known for it's outdoor fun but assistant manager Amanda Asher says gloomy skies have dampened business.

"It's not as great as it should be during the summer time but people do our indoor stuff like arcade, birthday parties, and gem stoning," said Asher.

But for most kids like the Roys there's nothing else to do when it rains.

"They're scared of the thunder and lightning so they'd rather stay inside when it's raining," said Roy. It's a good thing there's the short sunny breaks where people of all ages can get out to play.
