Major accident leads to arrest

A man is charged with driving under the influence following a major one-car accident in Port Arthur over the weekend.

The accident happened on the stretch of highway between Jimmy Johnson and Hwy 73. Police say the driver of the SUV over corrected, lost control and left the highway. The driver was pinned inside but quickly pulled out by first responders.

The driver refused to go to the hospital.

Two passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Sergeant Chance with the Port Arthur Police Department says the driver was arrested for DWI.
