Posted: Updated:

PORT ARANSAS (Kiii Sports) - 8-year-old Max Barberito was particularly proud of his 36 pound Yellowfin Tuna he caught Saturday at the 77th Deep Sea Roundup. Little did he know how exactly how proud he'd be the next day.

Barberito was announced as the offshore grand champion at the Roundup's awards banquet Sunday afternoon. The local Port Aransas resident also caught a sailfish.

Fellow Port A youngster Blake Roberson was just edged out in the overall offshore category, but was awarded the top spot in the junior competition.

Rene Lopez took the top honor in the bay and surf division while Jake Coulter of Ingleside won the junior bay and surf crown.

As far as some of the individual species winners:

Blue Marlin - Barbara Hoskinson of Portland
    Gloria Boenker of Fort Worth

White Marlin - Marlin Johnson of Aransas Pass (rescued from the burning boat 'Let it Ride' Saturday)
                      Hunter Deberry of Boerne

Shark - John Bodrick of Fair Oaks Ranch (77th Deep Sea Roundup Kicks Off)

Sailfish - Cheryl Glendening of Horse Shoe Bay
