A former Port Arthur Memorial High School teacher has been indicted on a charge of improper relationship between an educator and a student.  Details of the charge are revealed in a police report obtained by 12 News HD from the Port Arthur Police Department.

The report states that a 17-year-old girl told her mother she was having a sexual relationship with 41-year-old Kip McFarlin. Her mother then reported it to police.

The Port Arthur Independent School District in May confirmed to 12News HD that Kip McFarlin was placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into allegations made against him.

The district later confirmed that McFarlin was no longer employed at PAISD.

McFarlin was arrested Friday and has since been released on $40,000 bond.

According to 12News HD file stories, Kip McFarlin was an assistant coach and teacher at Memorial High School in Port Arthur.  McFarlin has also been an assistant baseball coach at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High and head baseball coach at Orangefield High in the past.
