If you drive down I-37 sometime soon, you will notice a new sign honoring our Purple Heart recipients.
The sign was unveiled Monday along I-37 over Highway 77, just past the Nueces River in San Patricio County. Living recipients of the award said the sign is something that brings joy to their hearts.
"It's beautiful because it reminds people as they drive around the state and in the country that the purple hearts are still here, and they should be remembered," said Ram Chavez of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
This is the second purple heart trail sign in Corpus Christi. The other sign is on Highway 77 southbound as you head into Calallen, while two other signs were erected in Live Oak County in May.
