CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Police are scratching their heads over an unusual situation. They said a mother drove off and left her five-year old daughter at a convenience store.

"They waited around for two hours, realized mom was not returning," said Officer Kirk Stowers of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "Police checked an address and found mom, who had just forgot she left the people at the Stripes."

According to police, the 25-year old mom drove her daughter to the Stripes store on the 600 block of Airport Road, near Morgan and Crosstown. The woman's friend and her five-year old child got out and went into the store. When they walked out, the woman was nowhere to be found.

The woman wasn't immediately arrested because her daughter was left with an adult. However, Child Protect Services and the CCPD are conducting an investigation that could result in charges being filed.
