ALICE (Kiii News) -
The City of Alice announced on Wednesday that it will break ground on a $12 million multi-use community and recreation complex sometime in the next 75 days.
At City Hall Wednesday afternoon, all of the key players met for the first time. The goal was to bring everybody up to speed on the timelines for this massive project.
The complex will be going in on Highway 281 South. It is set to include a convention center, hotel, natatorium and amphitheater.
"This project is not just about a pool, or an amphitheater, or a hotel, or some meeting space," Alice City Manager Ray De Los Santos, Jr., said. "It is much larger than that. This project is about what Alice could be, should be, and will be. It's about making Alice a place to live, work and play."
The City said once ground is broken, it should take 14 months to build.
