A Flour Bluff resident arrived home to find their two-story house on fire Thursday afternoon. A neighbor was already on the scene to help save her pets.
The fire started just after 2 p.m., on the 3100 block of Mill Brook Dr. in Flour Bluff.
It took the Corpus Christi and Flour Bluff fire department's about 15 minutes to put out the flames. Most of the damage was done to the upstairs balcony and a bit of the attic.
A family of four, two adults and two children ages 15 and 13, along with their two dogs and two cats that were saved by their neighbor, live in that house. Officials had to cut electricity to the house for the night, so the homeowners will be staying with friends and family members.
Officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it could have been caused by a cigarette.
Kiii News reporter Bill Churchwell spoke with the homeowner and the neighbor who saved their pets. Tune in at 5 and 6 p.m. for their story.
