Conditions Force Flaring at Local Chemical Plant - KiiiTV3.com South Texas, Corpus Christi, Coastal Bend

Operations at a local refinery caused some major flaring Thursday.

It went on for a few hours in the afternoon at the Lyondell Chemical Plant on the 1500 block of Mckinzie Rd. near Tuloso-Midway High School. Plant officials said the plant was forced to flare because of operating conditions within the plant.

As you might know, flaring is a relatively common safety mechanism, and is meant to head off a problem. It does not represent any sort of danger.
