CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Thanks to the generosity of Kiii News viewers, a local non-profit in need is back in action again.
Briana Gutierrez is the community education director at the Family Outreach Center on Baldwin. She said earlier this week, someone stole the copper wiring in their two air conditioning units. The cost to fix them was about $5,000.
However, since the story aired, the non-profit has received about a half-dozen offers to fix their units for free. They took Modern Air Conditioning up on that offer.
"We feel extremely blessed," Gutierrez said. "I mean, to have this great response from the community, just letting us know to help us, it's a real eye-opener. We're really, really happy."
Next, the non-profit plans to look for a better way to secure their air conditioners.
