ARANSAS PASS (Kiii News) -

There was a tragedy in Aransas Pass Friday, as a day out on the boat turned fatal for a 16-year old girl.

The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m., when a boat took a turn too fast in the water near Hampton's Landing, located on E. Ransom Road in Aransas Pass.

The boat was carrying four passengers, a man, his two daughters and their friend. It was the friend who fell out of the boat during the sharp turn, and was hit on the head with a propeller.

"Everybody is sick about this," angler Jamie Spears said. "We are in the water everyday, and we hate to see something like this happen."

The girl was taken to Care Regional Center in Aransas Pass, where she was pronounced dead from lacerations to her face and back of her head.

The accident is being investigated as a boating accident by the Aransas Pass Police Department and Parks and Wildlife Marine division.
