A couple of workers were attempting to clean up a lot on Friday, where a homeless camp was spotted by the Corpus Christi Police Department's Enduro Bike Unit.
The lot, which is located behind a bar on Leopard Street, was spotted by police Thursday. It was hidden from view by material hanging from a chain-link fence. Police told the homeless individuals who were camping there to leave the premises and not return.
The police who found the camp called Code Enforcement officers out to the scene to take a look at the property. They left a notice for the owner to clean up the tall grass and weeds on the property, as well as the litter and solid waste that had accumulated.
On Friday, workers said they were working quickly to get the property up to shape.
"We're cleaning up my mess, because I'm the one responsible for this place," said Manuel M. Jr., who was working on the property. "So we're just cleaning up the mess. I hope the City is satisfied with what we're going to do."
The owners of the lot of have six more days to get that property up to code, or they could face serious fines.
