CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, a motorcycle driver is in serious condition after he slammed his bike into the back of a car Monday.
"He was not wearing a helmet, and he sustained pretty severe head injuries," said Capt. Mark Gutierrez of the CCPD.
The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. on the 3500 block of SPID westbound, between Weber and Kostoryz.
Police said the man on the bike may have been speeding when he rammed his bike into the back of a black Dodge that was traveling in the slow lane. During the investigation, officers found the woman behind the wheel of the Dodge, 54-year old Veronica Hernandez, was possibly drunk, and she was arrested for DWI and for driving with a suspended license.
The driver of the motorcycle was rushed to the emergency room at Christus Spohn Memorial. Police said they plan to hand out tickets once their investigation is complete.
