CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Mission of Mercy's Mobile Health Unit received a big shot in the arm, courtesy of a local cable giant.
Grande Communication handed a $2,500 check to the charitable organization Monday. The money was raised from donations made by Grande employees.
The money will be used to help run the mobile medical clinic, which is essentially a hospital on wheels. It goes all around the Coastal Bend, serving the uninsured with free primary healthcare, prescriptions and preventative testing.
"Our whole key is trying to keep folks healthy and out of the emergency room, since we all pay for that in this community," said Leo Barrera, Executive Director of the Texas Mobile Medical Program. "So this gift will go a very long way for providing that care, that is essential for our community."
