Beaumont PD investigating credit union robbery

Posted: Updated:

Beaumont Police Officers are investigating an afternoon robbery at the Safe Credit Union located in the 2000 block of North 11th Street.

The robbery was reported just after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The robber was able to leave before police arrived.  Officers are searching the area using a K-9.

Police say a man wearing a straw hat and white mask, similar to the one people wear while mowing lawns, entered the credit union.

He appeared to act as though he was filling out a deposit form. When he approached the clerk he gave her a note demanding money and insinuated he had a weapon.

Surveillance video shows the man during the robbery.

Police are unsure if he was actually carrying a gun.

He is described by police as a black man, 6'0", 180 pounds. He was wearing a straw hat, sunglasses, a white mask, a long sleeve blue shirt with blue jeans and dark shoes.
