Jury Finds CCPD Officer Did Not Use Excessive Force

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A federal jury has cleared a Corpus Christi officer of any wrongdoing during a traffic stop back in April of 2009.

The jury found Tuesday that Senior Officer Tony Taufaasau did not use excessive force during the arrest of local woman Ruby Castillo. Criminal records show 33-year old Castillo was charged with resisting arrest on April 5, 2009. Those charges were dismissed a year later.

Tuesday's finding means Castillo will not be awarded any money in her lawsuit against the police officer.
