The Go Texan Restaurant Roundup is going on this week, and the Texas Department of Agriculture is hoping you'll celebrate the menus of the Lone Star State.
It's a special campaign to encourage Texans to eat local and support Texas farmers and ranchers. There are about a dozen South Texas restaurants participating, including the Executive Surf Club; and each time something on their special Texas menu is purchased, the restaurant in turn gives back to the community.
Every restaurant that participates donates 10-percent of proceeds to local food banks," said Daryle Cuherpin, general manger of the Executive Surf Club. "For instance, Surf Club and Water Street are sending 10-percent of its sales to the Corpus Christi Food Bank."
The Restaurant Roundup continues through Sunday, July 29. To find out which local restaurants are participating, you can visit the Go Texan Restaurant Roundup Web site at www.gotexanrestaurantroundup.com.
