Bond set for man charged in shooting death

7/24/2012: Community stunned by shooting in Groves

Bond has been set for a man charged in the July 23, 2012 shooting death of a 26-year-old Nederland man.

John Mason Broadway remains held at the Jefferson County jail on $3.5 Million in bonds following his arraignment Wednesday morning.

Broadway was arrested by Beaumont Police after detectives from Groves say he shot and killed Cody Hokett, 26, at a house in the 3100 block of Cleveland in Groves.

Broadway is charged with murder. Officers earlier this week said the charges may be upgraded to capital murder because he stole the victim's car.
