CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The Corpus Christi Police Department said a man tried passing a fake $100 bill in an attempt to buy beer and a cigar.

Police said 30-year old Rene Tanguma tried to pay for a beer and a cigar, valued at $3.01, with a $100 bill; but the cashier at the Stripes at Staples and Leopard knew something was up because the bill didn't have a watermark, and wasn't the right size.

The cashier told Tanguma to stick around while she got his change, but in the meantime, she called the police.

Tanguma was arrested and charged with forgery.
