Tyler County sheriff's deputies have a huge haul of marijuana in evidence following a discovery near Hillister off of County Road 4380.
Tyler County Sheriff David Hennigan says deputies found around 2.000 plants. Each is around 7-9" tall. Some reached as high as 15".
Other plants were already hanging to dry.
The sheriff said the total number combined is around 5,000 plants, the equivalent to about 500-700 pounds worth.
Two people are in custody. Their names have not been released but they face felony charges. Deputies say the growing operation may have been started as recent as this last spring.
"They've got generators, they've damned up small creeks. Put pumps in, run them off generators and lay several feet of black pipe watering the marijuana plants out here," Chief Deputy Clint Spurrock said.
Spurrock says the investigation is far from over and other people will likely be arrested.
Other authorities involved in the bust include the Drug Enforcement Administration, The Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Rangers.
