A three-year old girl was found wandering outside an apartment complex Thursday morning.
"Lady came out this morning, taking her dogs to the groomers, and a little girl was sitting on her front porch," said Sgt. Ross Richards with the Corpus Christi Police Department. "We looked around, and we found her uncle. What happened was, her mother dropped her off about 6 a.m., and was supposed to lock the door after she drooped her off, and didn't lock the door. He was in there asleep, and didn't realize she had come out and was missing."
The little girl didn't get too far, only about 25 yards away from her uncle's place on the 2300 block of Capitan, near Airline and Holly. She wasn't injured in any way.
Police said it is lucky the girl didn't wander out onto the nearby, busy Airline Road.
Police took a report on this incident. It is unclear if Child Protective Services will be called in to investigate.
