The Alice Fire Department is investigating an early morning trailer home fire as arson. It happened at the Bluebonnet Trailer Park on North Johnson just after 6:00 AM Friday.
When firefighters and police arrived they found a trailer fully engulfed in flames and smoke. A nearby trailer home and two vehicles were also damaged by the extreme heat.
Police say no one was inside the home but that the trailer belonged to the park manager. He told police he was going to rent the trailer to a man he knew as Eddie or "Double D." Police identified the man as a known Latin King gang member. The manager said he did not allow Eddie to stay in the trailer and had not seen him since May.
The manager believes someone intentionally set the fire because there was no electricity going to it. Neighbors also told police they noticed recent gang activity in the trailer. No arrests have been made.
