The national award comes on the heels of Gila Rut’s 20-year anniversary. Keri Davis and her mother, Carol, opened their first Gila Rut Salon in 1992, in the hip neighborhood of Hillcrest, San Diego. Their goal was to create an environment where the staff would flourish and the guests would receive the ‘ultimate salon experience’. Known for it’s intense focus on Salon Education, thousands of happy guests and many accolades of press; Gila Rut has been named one of the 200 fastest growing salons in the country by Salon Today magazine, 6 years in a row. Since then, they have opened up 2 more successful salons in San Diego with partner Karla Lopez-Martinez who joined the dynamic duo in 2006.
“We are so honored to be the recipient of this prestigious NAHA (North American Hairstyling Awards), MBA award says Keri Davis. “This solidifies the work we have done for the past 20 years.”
This year marked 23 years of the NAHA Awards Ceremony. The event featured five artistic presentations from, NAHA 2011 Hairstylist of the Year Eli Mancha, artists representing the Proctor & Gamble Salon Professional Brands, Cloud Nine Hair USA and Aveda. A tribute to Vidal Sassoon was also included to honor the work and legacy of the man who did so much to advance the art and profession of hairstyling.
