Amber V. Roussel (Photo: facebook.com)Police have identified the victim in Monday's fatal accident as 31-year-old Amber V. Roussel of Louisiana.
Officers are continuing to investigate the accident which caused a closure of Interstate 10 from MLK in Beaumont to Highway 105 in Vidor.
Investigators say around 4 p.m. Monday the driver of a white pickup heading eastbound was driving erratically and lost control of the truck near I-10 at Pine street. The truck went airborne and crashed into a concrete divider. The impact broke the bumper off of the vehicle, sending it into westbound traffic.
Police say a westbound vehicle struck the front end of the truck. The second impact knocked a "brush guard" style bumper off of the truck causing it to fly into a third vehicle that was also traveling westbound.
A male driver and a female passenger from Louisiana occupied the third vehicle. The impact with the bumper killed 31-year-old Amber V. Roussel. The male driver of the third vehicle was Roussel's husband. St. Elizabeth E. R. doctors treated Roussel's husband for minor injuries and he was subsequently released.
The driver of the white truck did not complain of injury. Officers took him to St. Elizabeth for a blood draw, which is mandatory in any fatality crash.
All lanes of the interstate were re-opened shortly before 11 p.m. Monday.
