CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A morning accident caused a driver to flip his car over, landing on a freeway embankment.
The accident happened about 8:30 a.m. at Corn Products Road and I-37. Witnesses told police that the car changed lanes, lost control and struck a Suburban.
The impact from that crash caused him to go airborne onto an embankment, and then flip onto the railing. Investigators said speed may have played a role in the accident.
"Obviously, you need to be aware of drivers around you when you're changing lanes," said Martin Thebeau of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "You need to make sure you have a clear lane to change into. Obviously that was a factor in this accident. He moved over into a lane that was already occupied by another vehicle."
The driver of the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He will be cited for the accident.
