There were a few surprises in the results of Tuesday's statewide run-off election.
The turnout was low in Nueces County, at just over seven-percent once all the votes came in. It compares to a statewide turnout of more than six-percent.
Of the more notable races, Rose Meza Harrison beat Jerry Trevino with 61-percent of the votes in their run-off race for the 27th Congressional District, earning her the chance to take on Republican incumbent Blake Farenthold in November.
In a closer race for District 43 State Representative, Republican J.M. Lozano, who was elected two years ago as a Democrat but has now changed parties, won with 54-percent of the votes; just 8-percent more than his opponent, Bill Wilson.
