ROCKPORT (Kiii News) -
It was a busy night for the Rockport and Fulton volunteer fire departments, as it took 12 firefighters to put out a major truck fire at the Holiday Inn Express.
A truck and the flat-bed trailer that was attached to it were completely destroyed, along with an ATV that was on the trailer.
Officials said it was just after 4 a.m. in the parking lot of Holiday Inn Express when a truck erupted into flames. It took crews about 30 minutes to get it fully under control. Another trailer received minor fire damage. Witnesses said the fire could be seen from blocks away.
"I thought it was next door," witness Jackie Mitchell said. "My neighbors came outside. I don't know if they evacuated the motel or not. It was a big boom."
There has been no word yet on what sparked the blaze.
