Welcome home planned for U.S. Army major

Posted: Updated:

TYLER (KYTX) - A welcome home celebration is planned for noon Thursday at Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant, 1725 WSW Loop 323 in Tyler, for U.S. Army Maj. Horace McCorvey.

McCorvey served the U.S. Army for 20 years, most recently in Afghanistan. McCorvey, a medical lab officer, is a Grapeland native who drove to Tyler from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport today.

Guests are asked to arrive at the restaurant between 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

"I know it is going to be very hot tomorrow at noon, but the manager of Carino's says that we can wait inside in the room just to the left of the entrance until time to form our flag line to welcome the major," Welcome Home Soldiers organizer Anne DeLaet said. "Please remember the temperatures and dress accordingly. Please stay hydrated too. We don't want to take any chances in this heat."

For more information, call (903) 279-7301 or (903) 707-2201.
