Congress Takes A Break, Spending Issues Still to be Decided

(KCEN) -- Members of Congress are planning to head home today for a month-long recess and they're leaving some important work undone.

Across the board tax increases and massive spending cuts kick in on January 1 and efforts to find a solution have hit a political stone wall.

The Republican-controlled house voted to extend the Bush tax cuts to extend tax cuts to all Americans.

But that's a plan dead on arrival in the Senate.
